Highlands Swimming Retreat

This is ABOUT STEPPING AWAY FROM THE NOISE

This yoga and wild swimming retreat in Scotland is about stepping into something older, quieter, and deeply grounding.

Set in the Scottish Highlands, days unfold between lochs, rivers and open landscapes that invite a slower pace and a stronger connection to the world around you.

Each day brings time in the water, guided wild swimming in clear, cold lochs, exploring hidden spots, and moving through the landscape with expert local guidance. It’s a yoga and wild swimming retreat designed to reconnect you, not just to nature, but to yourself.

You return each evening to a characterful country house set on the river’s edge. A place that feels lived in and welcoming, where the sauna is ready, the air is still, and everything begins to soften.

There is space here, to move, to rest, to breathe. And over the days, something shifts. You feel clearer, calmer, and more like yourself again.

This Scotland yoga & wild swimming  retreat is for you if:

  • You’re craving fresh Highland air, open landscapes, and quiet lochs
  • You’ve been curious about Scotland, but haven’t quite done it yet
  • You’re always “on” and need space to properly switch off
  • You want to travel, but with like-minded company around you
  • You’re curious about wild swimming, but want expert guidance and support
  • You want to feel clear and energised
  • You’re drawn to simple, nature-led experiences over polished luxury
  • You feel at your best exploring the outdoors

A modern, glass-walled cabin sits on a wooden deck surrounded by trees, connected by a path over rocky terrain.
A person paddles a green kayak on calm water past a rocky, tree-lined coastline under a clear blue sky.
People dining outdoors around a wooden table, with one person holding a bowl of shrimp and grits in the foreground.

Real people. real stories.

Over 20 years of experience, trusted by thousands of guests.

I arrived feeling completely worn out and left calmer and more like myself than I have in years. Everything was so thoughtfully put together, I didn’t have to think about a thing.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it exceeded everything. The setting is incredible, and the way the retreat is held makes you feel completely at ease from the moment you arrive.

Set within a 200-acre estate in the heart of the Cairngorms, our retreat venue is a characterful Edwardian country house surrounded by forest, mountains and the flowing River Spey. Thoughtfully restored with a mix of original features and relaxed, lived-in charm, it feels both grounding and quietly unique, a place to slow down, settle in, and feel at home.

Open lawns offer space for alfresco yoga when the weather is kind, while a rustic barn provides a simple, grounded setting to practise indoors.

    SWIM

This retreat is built around the water. Each day brings a new place to explore, from quiet, glass-like lochs to flowing rivers and hidden waterfalls. There’s a sense of freedom in it, swimming in wild spaces and discovering places you wouldn’t find alone. One day, you’ll swim out towards the island castle on Loch an Eilein, a truly memorable Highland experience. With expert local knowledge from Alice at Swim Wild guiding each swim, you can fully relax into it, knowing you’re supported every step of the way.

  • YOGA

A person performs a yoga side lunge pose on a blue mat in a bright, modern room with a brick accent wall and house plants.

Open to all levels, each day includes a morning vinyasa flow to gently awaken the body, and an evening restorative session to help you unwind.

The yoga on this retreat is led by Zest Life founder Laura Bell, who brings over 20 years of teaching experience.

Rooted in Ashtanga, her approach has evolved into a fluid vinyasa style, focused on building strength, creating space in the body, and helping you feel grounded and present.

Always guided and held, never pushed.

  • WELLNESS

Each afternoon, you return to our private sauna session. Much needed warmth after the cold water, allowing your body to soften, your breath to deepen, and your whole system to reset.
