Finland Arctic Adventure Retreat

Feel excited for a WHITE winteR

This Finland yoga and adventure retreat is about meeting the season head-on, stepping into the snow, the cold and the deep quiet of the far north, and coming home recharged.

You wake without rushing, easing into the day with movement that warms the body. There's the clarity of an ice dip, the deep heat of the sauna, and the quiet satisfaction of a day spent out in the snow.

Days bring real adventure: your own husky sled, snowshoeing through silent forest, watching for the Northern Lights once the sky darkens. Sprinkled with space to rest by the fire, sauna, or simply be.

Food is nourishing, the pace is unforced, and everything is thoughtfully taken care of in the Zest Life way.

Every detail was perfectly planned - the location, the food, the excursions. The excursions were very immersive and obviously took a lot of planning. It was nice to interact with the locals during the dog sledding, snowshoeing, reindeer ride and sauna/cold plunge experiences.

Lapland was beyond magical. From the husky ride to the ice lake dip and saunas, every moment felt surreal in the best way. It was one of those trips where you’re fully present and just taking it all in.
We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already talking about when we can do this again.

I’ve just returned back from the most wonderful retreat in Swedish Lapland. It was just what I needed to unwind after a busy year.

February in Lapland brings deep, reliable snow and the light returning after midwinter, short but beautiful days, long blue twilights, and some of the strongest Northern Lights activity of the year.

Daytime temperature: around -6 to -15°C

    Snow: deep and reliable

  • STAY

Finish cabin in snow covered pine forest

Our retreat home is a spacious Finnish cabin near Akaslompolo, with an open fire, its own sauna, and large windows framing the snow and surrounding fells. Rooms are comfortable and simply furnished in unfussy Nordic style. A warm communal living space becomes our dedicated yoga room.

  • ACTIVITY

    Husky ride in snow

    HUSKIES

Meet a small team of huskies at a family-run farm, then take the reins of your own sled through snow-covered wilderness, with silence and open space all around.

    SNOWSHOE

Head out into quiet forest and across frozen ground on snowshoes with experienced local guides, settling into the stillness of the Arctic landscape.

    ICE DIP

Lower into a hole cut through the frozen lake for a sharp, clarifying cold-water dip, then straight back to the warmth of the wood-fired sauna.

    NORTHERN LIGHTS

February is one of the best months to see the aurora. We watch every clear night, ready to head out if they appear.

  • YOGA

A person performs a yoga side lunge pose on a blue mat in a bright, modern room with a brick accent wall and house plants.

Open to all levels, each day includes a morning vinyasa flow to gently awaken the body, and an evening restorative session to help you unwind.

The yoga on this retreat is led by Zest Life founder Laura Bell, who brings over 20 years of teaching experience.

Rooted in Ashtanga, her approach has evolved into a fluid vinyasa style, focused on building strength, creating space in the body, and helping you feel grounded and present.

Always guided and held, never pushed.

  • WELLNESS

Aerial shot of sauna and ice dip

    SAUNA

Beside the frozen lake and at the cabin, the sauna is the heart of the week. Deep, wood-fired warmth after the cold, allowing your body to soften, your breath to deepen, and your whole system to reset.

  • EAT

A green salad with seeds and sprouts on a plate, set on a sandy surface.

This retreat features a plant-based menu designed to support recovery and nourish your body after each day.

  • FAQ

    Do I need yoga experience?

No. Sessions are open to all levels and you move at your own pace. If you've never tried yoga, you're very welcome.

How fit do I need to be?

A moderate level is plenty. The activities ask for willingness rather than fitness — if you can walk comfortably for an hour or two, you'll be fine. You can always take a quieter day by the fire.

    How cold will it be?

Properly cold — daytime temperatures around [-6 to -15°C] — which is part of the magic. With the right layers you stay warm and comfortable. We send a full kit list when you book, and warm outer gear for husky sledding is provided.

Will I see the Northern Lights?

We can't promise them — they depend on clear skies and solar activity — but February is one of the strongest months of the year for sightings, and we watch every clear night.

    Is the ice dip compulsory?

Never. Plenty of guests watch the first time and join in later, and plenty simply enjoy the sauna. It's there if you want it, guided every step.

Can I come on my own?

Yes, and many do. The small group makes it easy to settle in, and private single rooms are available in limited number.

    What should I bring?

Warm layers, a good base layer, hat, gloves and proper winter boots. We'll send a detailed kit list once you've booked so nothing's left to guesswork. Please bring your own yoga mat.

    What's the food like?

Three nourishing meals a day, seasonal and plant-based, with most dietary needs catered for if you let us know in advance. All our retreats are alcohol-free.

    How do I get there?

Fly to Kittilä via Helsinki, then a short transfer to the cabin — included when you travel on the recommended flights. Full travel guidance comes with your booking.

What if the weather changes plans?

Winter in the Arctic is weather-led, so we build in flexibility and adjust the order of the week as needed. You'll always have a full, well-held programme.

    Will I have free time?

Yes. Afternoons and evenings are unhurried, with the sauna, the fire and quiet time built into each day.

Held in awe inspiring Finland

Inside the Arctic Circle, in the snowbound heart of Finnish Lapland, the world goes quiet. Forest and frozen lake stretch out in every direction, the air is sharp and clean, and the days move at the pace of the light.

There is a particular stillness in February, the hush of deep snow, the slow return of the sun, the long blue hour before dark. It asks nothing of you but to slow down and notice.
